Great American Musical Salute by Terrie Frankel
Were They Ever Lovers?
Ernest Hemingway and Dorothy Parker crossed paths thoughout their careers. There is evidence they socialized in Paris in 1926 and in Hollywood before the second world war. Hemingway even gave a private screening for her and her friends of his film about the Spanish Civil War. We will never know if, at any time, they were actually lovers for the autobiography Dorothy was working on mysteriously disappeared after her death.
In the musical "Room Enough For Two" the Dorothy character reminences about her love for Hemingway and one of her last words were "did Hemingway really like me?"
